Contract Shuttle Driver (1099)

Job Summary

We are searching for a lively, highly organized Contract Shuttle Driver (1099 employee) to provide customers with a safe trip from the Flora-Bama properties to their home.  The shuttle bus driver will be required to determine the correct pick-up and drop-off times and locations for all trips mentioned above.  The driver should fully understand and adhere to the department of transportation laws and limits. Ultimately, an extraordinary shuttle driver will be able to maintain normal wear and tear issues on the shuttle/truck as well as help diagnose and remedy basic mechanical problems that may arise.  Below are the components that each Shuttle Driver must perform to ensure success in the role.

  • Maintain transport schedules based on passengers' needs
  • Arrive at pick-up time prior to departure times
  • Confirm that all passengers are present
  • Ensure adherence to passenger limits
  • Avoid high-traffic and accident-prone routes, where possible
  • Record and report all major accidents and incidents to management
  • Check that passengers are dropped off at the correct destinations, and in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the shuttle is fueled, well-maintained, and presentable at all times
  • Observe all relevant traffic and safety laws

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, peers, guests and management
  • Ability to multitask, and take ownership of the different tasks that are assigned 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision
  • Ability to fill out trip sheet including pick up location, destination, number of passengers and money collected for each ride
  • Previous experience driving groups of people
  • Outstanding knowledge of applicable transport and safety codes
  • First Aid training is preferred
  • Excellent route planning abilities
  • Amicable and optimistic disposition
  • Working knowledge of pertinent car maintenance and restoration techniques
  • Ability to work flexible AM and PM hours
  • Full time and part time available

Pay based on number of trips completed per shift
